Explanation of the Module
This module implements match settings in accordance with UEFA regulations regarding player substitutions.
Under current UEFA rules, teams are allowed five substitutions during regular time. However, if the match proceeds into extra time, an additional substitution is permitted. This ensures that coaches have more flexibility to manage player fatigue and tactical adjustments during extended matches.
The script reflects this rule by:
• Defining a base number of substitutions () for each competition.
• Automatically detecting when a match has entered extra time.
• Granting one extra substitution in extra time, on top of the five allowed in regular play.
In practice, this means:
• During normal time: 5 substitutions available.
• If extra time is played: 1 additional substitution becomes available (total of 6).
This behavior is consistent with UEFA’s official competition regulations and ensures that gameplay follows the same substitution logic as real-world tournaments.
